How to get rid of Second Screen menu

I have a Toshiba laptop with Windows 8. My problem is that on the right hand side of the screen, the "Second Screen" menu keeps popping up, the same screen that should pop up when you press Windows + P, seemingly regardless of what I do. Is there any way to disable this? It is not harming the speed or overall performance of my computer, but as I type and the menu pops up yet again, it ignores keystrokes and results in me making plenty of typos. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Especially in regards to why this keeps happening.

A long time ago I had a laptop with an external button to configure the "second screen" settings. Is it possible that perhaps one of the keys is stuck without you knowing?

I remember searching for ages for a fix when suddenly I noticed that that one key was jammed.

Apart from that I'm afraid I do not know what the problem might be.
