[SOLVED] How to get rid of Spotify

Hi, the past few days I noticed Spotify icon appear on my desktop. I don't use the program, so want to get rid of it.

the problem is it does not show up in add or remove programs when I go to control panel.

how do I remove this thing cleanly from the pc? thanks.

I/O Bit Uninstaller would be 1 suggestion, God Mode may help also.. google is your friend

I would go to desktop folder and look at properties of the shortcut, and see where file is actually located.

this is what I see when try to right click it. There is no properties.

trying to right click on the Spotify icon only causes it to open a window.

whoever designed this Spotify is a sneaky fellow.

I'm not even sure how this thing got to my pc.

Open File Exploder
open desktop folder
right click shortcut there
choose properties
choose location tab maybe

what does it show you??

might be able to delete it or find its properties from there. They really buried it. I wonder why they added it there

weird you can pin it but it already is, and unpin from start... but you don't want that

The same thing just happened to me after a windows update.
In the search type spotify, go to I think it said spotify media click (arrow out to the side of it)that and it should out to the right say uninstall.

It was on my task bar after I updated this morning, removed it from task bar, rebooted and it was right back.

Did the search for it and forget the exact one but about the 4th one on the list clicked the arrow and it listed uninstall.

Rebooted and it's no longer on my task bar so I guess it's gone enough.
Now when I search for it it shows web listings for it.

should be able to right click it in apps list and uninstall from there.

did what you said, and managed to uninstall it. Rebooted and it does not appear anymore.

so this thing came from Windows Update. That's a relief to hear. I thought it was some sort of malware, which is the reason why I want to get rid of it.

i don't have it.
Only place it shows on my PC is on the start menu

it wasn't on the taskbar at all. VM on latest version of 10 now.

Do you use a local account or a Microsoft Account?
I thought I uninstalled it before and it should remember if you have, if you use an MSA. If you use a local, you get all the crap.

anyway, I'm no longer alarmed by this thing anymore, since it comes from the update.
