Hi, I was just wondering how to get a faster network. I watched LinusTechTips, and he said he had a 10 gbps network card, what do he mean by that? I looked at my own network and it was only 1 gbps, i thought this was a bit low. Can you send me a link to a good ethernet card with 10 gbps?

What router or other gear will i have to have to get to use all 10 gbps on a 10gbps network card. And before you say, "You won't even need it cause your provider cant provide" , i live i Norway we got fiber!

Thanks in advance!

quick check on pcpartpicker shows two results:
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/qlogic-wired-network-card-qle3242cuck
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-wired-network-card-e10g42bt
both are seemingly costly and meant for server enviroments.

You could also go straight to the computer with fibre but.. those cards are also bit rare in open market and wont cost any less.
routers/modems? well.. none of the consumer models really support 10GB only upto 1GB and professional models cost more.
long story short, if you want 10GB connection, be prepared to pay 10k or more for it to work.

there was a topic about it in 2013 here in toms, it pretty much still applies...

Edit: okay, it isn't 10k anymore...
as an option:
router, odd 960 or so

network card(s) 450 each

Also bear in mind that currently pretty much maximum offered to normal consumers is 1GB, only companies get 10GB and more so you might have to pay more to ISP for that too.
