So I just bought an upgrade and installed it into my Arctic Cooling Silentium T2 pc case. This is the stuff:

* ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard

* AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Toledo 1GHz FSB 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket 939 Dual Core Processor

* MSI NX7800GT-VT2D256E Geforce 7800GT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO PCI Express x16 Video Card

* CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model Twinx2048-3200c2pt

So what should I do to get the most out of it? I have set the timings on the RAM to 2,5-3-3-6 in BIOS and it's running on 2,75v like Corsair recommends. Currently I only have the standard fans but I plan on getting the CPU Freezer Pro and the NV Silencer from Arctic Cooling for the CPU and the Video Card. Anyway, I ran 3dmark06 basic edition and scored about 4200 which I thought was a bit low compared to other users. So, any tips on how to squeeeeeze everything out of the computer (OC or not)?

Unless 06 is giving great weight to SLI, you should be scoring higher. My specs are below and I got 6908.

In the nVidia control panel, what is your refresh rate and AA/AF settings?

Oh, also try pushing the FSB up to 220 for starters (a very simple OC, does not require you to change voltages or timings). See what happens.

If you can squeeze another 200 Mhz out of your processor (most 4400+ will make 2.4GHz pretty easily), and up the gpu core to about 450, mem to 550, (these cpu/gpu OCs are nothing really radical), with the video OC being the most important in actual games anyway, your FEAR framerates will jump from 49 to about 53 fps avg at 1024x768/4xAA/16xAF...

(3dM06 should go up around 100-200 points as well, I'd bet...)

Good luck!

"...also try pushing the FSB up to 220 for starters (a very simple OC, does not require you to change voltages or timings). "

That of course will depend on his mem; many PC3200 sticks don't like 220 MHz with 'default' timings, although XMS might make it...

yall running 06' in 1280x1024? I usually run in 1024x768, but i gained mega 06' points by switching to 1280x1024 resolution.

Thanks for the replies! I realised that my score wasn't so bad, sure I can push it up a couple of hundred maybe but this score is pretty normal for my system. I checked better into it and the guys that were scoring remarkably higher than me had SLI video cards! So there's no problem :D

But if you have any tips on how I can improve my system performance, let me know!
