How to get USB 3.0 working on Gigabyte AiVia Osmium

I bought a Gigabyte AiVia Osmium keyboard today. But I have been wondering of you need to plug in the USB 2.0 cable to get it to work. I can't get it to work if I only plug in the USB 3.0 cable. Do I need to plug in both the USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 cable to get the maximum speed? And is it normal not being able to get it to work if only using the USB 3.0 cable?

The USB 3.0 plug is for the USB 3.0 pass-through that you have on the keyboard (have the blue coloring) and has nothing to do with the actual keyboard. Keyboards do not need anywhere near the speed of USB 3.0 to operate fully, and you will need to plug in the 2.0 connector for keyboard function.

What is USB 3.0 pass-through? I googled it, but I still don't get it. Could you please dumb it down A LOT.

It just means you have the USB 3.0 plug plugged into your computer, and you have USB 3.0 ports available on the keyboard (look at the left/right sides). The plug you're using to plug into your computer now simply extends the USB 3.0 connection from the computer to the keyboard, and isn't connected to the keyboard in any way.

In short, plug the 3.0 connector to a 3.0 port on your computer, and the 2.0 connector to a 2.0 port on your computer. That way you can take advantage of the USB ports on the keyboard as well.
