How to get Windows XP version of Minesweeper on Windows 8.1 computer?

This version, the simple, no nonsense version, not a metro style, not one with fancy gimmicks and buzzers and sound, just literally the same exact version.

If I could get classic solitaire and not the full screen style then that would be great too, but for now I'd honestly just be happy with getting the old minesweeper back, would appreciate any help.

I unfortunately have no XP install disc or XP computer of my own

Here is a tutorial, but you will need access to an XP machine or find a place online to download the files. Bittorrent maybe?

Does that link still apply even if it's for windows 7?

It's a tutorial about putting XP games on Windows 7, so yes it applies. You will just have to do a little online searching for the files you need, but shouldn't be too difficult.
