Ok I have a problem here. Wireguard for some reason isn't working on my local account but if I use an admin account it installs and runs it successfully. My main problem is my local account is the one I mostly use for windows as I'm told that running it with an admin account is very risky.

So if I want wireguard to work on my local account, can I just run it on my admin account and switch back to the local account? Or do I have to do something that requires tinkering with the registry files. I tried that but it still doesn't work...

I tried wireguard but I don't know how to use it as my cousin told me that its needed for port forwarding or improving the latency of some sorts from my place to his and so. Any ideas?

False. You're missing out on a lot of apps that need admin privileges to work. It's not risky, if you have an AV and is careful about the stuff you download/click.

No. It needs Administrator privileges. You can convert your Local Account into Administrator account using this guide. You need to be on the Administrator account first in order to do so. > https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-to-change-local-account-to-be-administrator/

Sorry, never used it. Never seen a need for a VPN.

What "problem" are you and cousin trying to solve?

We are basically trying to solve a latency problem. My cousin and brother are from USA and I'm from Asia. When we play online the lag gets in the way of things and to do this we need wireguard to work because according to him Wireguard would benefit because of it having a secure LAN network. Basically with wireguard, we can play the online games with no issues without having to require port forwarding.

By using wireguard, the latency I think shouldn't get in the way and it makes hosting much easier for the games that we would like to play online. Also we don't have to worry about our IPs changing since we don't have to use port forwarding.

But as said earlier, Wireguard for some reason requires only an admin account to work and I've tried my part to make it work as a standard user but its not working.

No, that was NOT a false statement.

For daily use, a Standard account is preferable.

What specific apps are you referring to, that need admin access on a daily basis?
I'd rather keep all my stuff in one user account than 2 different ones. And that one, I'd like it to be Administrator account. Of course this is "me", but in situations like this, I think we can both agree. It being not as safe as a local account is agreeable, but if you don't go to sketchy websites/ click random stuff/ be careful of what you download and run /have a good AV solution, you'll be fine.

Apps that are not necessarily on daily basis, but when you need them, you'll have to switch to a Admin account just for that. (OP is experiencing just that)

There isn't a "workaround" for the OPs problem, rather we're questioning his decision of why he needs the software. The only way is to either use the Administrator account, or promote your current account to Administrator. I doubt it will fix\lower latency though.
