How to go about gettting rid of a virus...

What have you tried already? you want your basic antivirus software and a spyware protection program. But sometimes you have to manually remove them.

It's not for me I want to help a friend. Some guy he went to charged him 100 bucks and the problem came back and since he knows I like to mess around with computers he asked if I could help. He said that his computer keep restarting and other silly things are happening.

O fair enough, ah thats abit expensive for virus removal and problem still isn't fixed? So have you tried the antivirus's yet? or spyware removal tools? Or you can try manually remove it, if you know how.

Or as a last resort you could reformat hard drive and reinstall the OS, backup his files first though.

If you know the name of the virus, then you can google it and find instructions on how to remove it (usually from antivirus man websites), usually detailed and easy to follow!
