Firstly let me start by saying that there are few things in life that I hate less than I hate Microsoft.

I have bought a new computer. It is my computer and I am the only one who uses it. Yet half the things I am trying to do with my own computer keep coming up with the message that I do not have permission to access or change the files I am trying to access. My user account says I am an administrator so why does this worthless Removed machine keep denying me access to what is already mine?

Okay rant over. Here are the specifics. I am using Windows 10 64 bit. I installed a VPN that I used on my last computer but I cannot use it because I need to edit a text file in the config folder of the VPNs directory. I can open the text file and edit it but when I try and save it I get the "No Permission" message.

Anyone know how to get around this?

Solution
Copy the file somewhere else (somewhere in your profile - documents, desktop, whatever),
edit it,
save it,
copy back to original location (you'll get UAC prompt, confirm that you're admin and you know, what you're doing).
