Question how to imrove the sound experience ? and whats the best GPU ?

Hi,
so i have 2 headphones ath m50x and pc 37x
and i wanna improve the sound experience do i need a sound card ? or should i stick to on board audio and buy a better headphones ? my mother board is msi z390 gaming edge ac .
and for my graphic card
i play at 2k 165hz
my GPU is 1070 and i wanna upgrade to either the 2080 super or 2070 super and i don't know witch one should i take
your thoughts ?

I'd ask you to try out the onboard out first and foremost. Getting a higher end/discrete sound card would definitely help but it's best if you try the onboard first.

i tried the on board audio and the mice quality of the pc 37x i worst that what i hared on YouTube and the sound volume is not high at all idk if its because of the headphones or the motherboard software or anything .

CPU: i5-9600k
Motherboard: msi z390 gaming edge ac
Ram: Kingston 16 gb 2400 mhz
SSD/HDD: Samsung 970 evo 500 gb and a few hdd
GPU: 1070
PSU: i dont remember its name but ots 80+bronze 1000w
Chassis: nzxt h440
OS: windows 10
