I have already done the Loudness Equalization in properties. Its still not loud enough. Is there a volume control program that I could download that would provide better results?

For instance with VLC Media player you can increase the volume WAY above max. I would think someone has written a simple volume contoller that can do the same thing for the over all volume. It seems most of the movies on VUDU are on the quiet side so I really need a way to get that up as high as possible.

I have a laptop with a Realtek HD sound card.

Are you, by any chance, using quality headphones with 50 ohms or more with this realtek? If you are, nothing you can do but get a dedicated usb sound card. The amplifier in onboard sound card is rarely enough to drive anything but low ohm headphones.

Headphones aren't the issue. I have good headphones. I also have a decent set of speakers. Whenever I'm watching something on VLC media player I can always get it up more than loud enough. So there is SOMETHING that will drive the volume up louder. Surely someone has made a sound controller that will control the PC's main volume in the same manner that VLC does. Right? I mean if VLC media player can overdrive the sound card by so much.. it seems logical that a simple sound control program could do the same thing.

Yeah, usually its called preamp volume. The same thing works in smartphones. But it is application thing, havent seen this on onboard audio driver equilizers yet. Most additional soundcards usually dont need this anyway, you usually have to decrease volume on them, not increase...
