How to install a CPU. (The Correct Way)

Hey guys this post is here for all you that don't know how to install a CPU or want more help on what to look for when installing a CPU. I will go over CPU sockets, CPU power TDP, Cores and Threads, if you have a bent pin, how to put the CPU in and how to remove the CPU, so on so forth.

*****When you get your CPU make sure it is the same socket type as your motherboard, don't get a different socket unless it is compatible.*****

1: How to hold the CPU.
** When having your CPU in your hand do not touch the pin's or top part of the CPU always hold it on the sides, holding the pins can bend them and holding the top of the CPU can affect the cooling performance.

2: How to place the CPU.
**When placing the CPU make sure that the cut out triangle on the MOBO (Motherboard) is in line with the CPU's silver arrow, if it is not in line it can bend the pins or even destroy the CPU by breaking the pins off.

3: Putting the HeatSink on the CPU.
**When putting the HeatSink on the CPU make sure the HeatSink is placed directly on the CPU, when it is clamped down by the clamp that comes with the CPU make sure it is on nice and firm, if it is loose it may not work and your CPU can overheat which can cause your CPU to break.

So first things first, before you get a CPU check the socket your motherboard supports along with the power TDP your MOBO (Motherboard) can handle, if you have a MOBO that can only support a LGA 1150 with 95W TDP dont get a LGA 1150 125W TDP, reason being, it can fry your MOBO as in burn it. If you get a CPU that is LGA 1151 with a LGA 1150 MOBO then that LGA 1151 CPU will not sit properly or it may not even go in at all meaning that CPU will not work, reason being is cause the LGA 1150 MOBO is not compatible with a LGA 1151 CPU. Now back to the Wattage TDP, so if you have a MOBO that has a max TDP of 95W dont get a CPU with anything higher than that max Wattage, first it can destroy the MOBO as in frying it (Like i said above), also if it does work it may not work properly, so it is not recommended.

Second thing before you order a CPU is knowing how many cores/threads it got's. Remember more Cores usually means better multitasking less cores but more threads usually are what Intel CPU's got, if it has more threads in my experience it usually games better than a CPU like AMD with the same cores as threads, reason being is because Intel has 1 core for every 2 threads usually, so if it is a 4 core CPU it is usually a 8 thread CPU, Usually meaning better gaming performance (Not always) and usually streaming performance as well, but AMD CPU's are also great streaming CPU's due to the fact that it has anywhere from 6-8 cores and 6-8 threads (1 core to every thread) if it is a good gaming CPU it usually got's that that is. Usually Intel has the better Gaming/Streaming CPU's but the price is way more then that of a AMD CPU. Dont get me wrong though AMD CPU's are also great if you want Price > Performance.

Last but not least, what if I have a bent pin on my CPU i just got?? Well don't worry all you need is a smaller sized mechanical pencil and your CPU, Find the bent Pin(s) and put the part were the lead usually goes over the CPU pin, then carefully and slowly bend it back into place, but not to much it can snap it in half, then when you got the all straight put it in the socket. If you have a broken CPU Pin find the whole the pin usually sits on in the socket and put it in there and hope that it works!

In conclusion I just wanted to thank you all for reading this if you even gotten this far, hopefully it helps and enjoy, I also got almost all of this from experience I have had with computer technicians, now to the moderators and so on if i have something wrong please tell me and not be rude, I know I don't have anything wrong because this is the steps I follow when I make my own built home PC's, but in some case you mod's don't like my post just tell me and I will always adjust some things I will gladly do whatever I need to!
