If it is a sata harddrive then it will use the same cables as a desktop harddrive.
If its an ATA/IDE device then you will need an adapter to connect it to either an ATA/IDE or Sata port. (whichever you have available on your motherbd)
Well if your running windows you will need to go into the settings and format the drive if you want windows to use it as a secondary drive. what version of windows or mac are you running?
