I built this pc in 2015 and had a problem with drivers because windows 10 had just dropped so I bought a "windows 8.1 ready" mobo. But the disc for drivers that came with was only for windows 8.1. So i think I have never installed any drivers?
I have been trying on and off to install them occasionally but always had a loop of not being able to due to their being no drivers present and another issue. How do I install the drivers?
On the asus website I have downloaded some of the files but they are all notepad files and arent .exe ? What do I do?

Thanks

Proceed with great caution. There's no rule saying you have to upgrade your motherboard firmware. If your computer is working fine for you and windows is updating like windows is supposed to, that's good.

But if you insist upon updating your motherboard firmware, then you'll need to know EXACTLY which motherboard you have before you do anything else: https://www.asus.com/us/support/Article/565/ What is the motherboard model?

After you know the exact motherboard model that you have, these instructions explain how to upgrade ASUS motherboard firmware: https://www.wikihow.com/Update-an-ASUS-BIOS

Be careful. Do it wrong and your motherboard might become a paperweight.
