Hello again community.

Tomorrow I will recieve my GTX 980 and it will be my first time to "install" a graphics card.
What do I have to do exactly? Could you please help me, don't want to destroy my new card! 😀
Atm I have nVidia GTX590 and P8P67 Evo Mainboard, 850W PSU and not so improtant i7 2600k processor.
There are 2 cables attached to my GTX590 named PCI-E = Do I have to put the same cables into the 980 or do I need other cables?

I'd appreciate help as you can see I'm a pretty newbie on this area!

Have a nice evening

Look up some videos to make sure you don't damage any of your hardware. Even after I explain you should see how some physically installs it.

Always read your manuals!!! You should (or should want to) be familiar with your parts. The manual is all you need to install the card with step by step instructions.

1. You need to remove your old graphics card. First disconnect the power cables (I'm guessing you don't have any SLI connections so you don't have to worry about those).

2. Depending on who installed your old card, there may (and should) be a screw holding the the top metal slab in place (it's the part above your DVI/VGA/HDMI outputs that stick out of your computer). Unscrew any screws holding in place (there should only be screws...

***NOTE*** Always keep track of your screws!!!

3. There should be some kind of little clip that will prevent you from removing the card. Push that clip and then pull the card out.

3. Place your new card (the 980) into the slot and the clip will automatically secure it.

4. Take that screw that was holding your previous card in place and screw it into the metal slab and the side of your case.

5. Plug in the power cables to the 980 (the manual that comes with the 980 will show you if you are confused)

6. Wiggle your card a bit just to make sure it's secure.

7. Plug in your VGA/DVI/HDMI into your card from your monitor/tv/etc.

8. Start the computer and upon booting the drivers should be automatically found if you have an internet connection.

9. Restart your PC and you should now have a newly installed GTX 980 🙂

If you have any problems with your installation just give a response in this thread and I'll try and help you out to the best of my ability. Also Google is your friend!!!
If you have any problems after your installation go ahead and ask here or again Google is your friend!

You may want to install drivers from Nvidia's site if you are having any problems.

Good luck! 🙂
