Alrighty guys, I'm back :]

But this time I'm here with hopes to attain a GOOD reply that could help me not to mess up like i tend to do all the time. :sweat:

So to get to the point can anyone please tell me how I should begin Installing Ubuntu step by step with tips and considerations before installing on my windows 7 PC. :pt1cable:

preferably a video if you can.

I agree anytime you want to learn how to do something to your computer that involves task that could cause data you need to be erased a virtual machine is a good place to go. I sometimes run linux inside of linux(For example when i wanted to learn the basics of grub without worrying about messing up my acctual boot up sequence.

thanks alot i did download VMware and it took me awhile to get used to linux but eveything seemed to run great. audio, vga, usb ports etc. and also im having trouble trying to hack back into my moms WEP wireless network. she won't tell me because she says it's school time and even though i make straight A's she won't give it to me. so im trying to download a driver or something for my AWLH6085 airlink pci card to work in aircrack-ng i've done the installation and i can't seem to get further than that.

As im sure you saw on your other thread this isnt something your gonna find much help on here. However i will say this.

If you have windows as your host machine and you cannot access the internet through windows then you probally wont be able to through vmware. If i am not mistaken vmware or any other vm set up will use the internet of the host machine to give guess access to the internet.

Now if you linux is your host machine then there is going to be a large amount of resources to getting your internet up and running through the web. If your using Ubuntu refer to its site to find information about your specific wireless card.

As far as your parents maybe a different approach is needed.

Think about the extra ramifications that could happen if your parents find out. Forgive me if i speak out of line but they seem rather strict so i would assume the punishments if they did find out would not be to enjoyable.

Maybe you can work a deal out with them if you really do make good grades.

yeah my other post was beyond failure. and i knew people wouldn't help because they probably think im some bum trying to steal. but i really havent done anything they changed it for no reason and assume all power for it even though they never use it and it could be used by every one.

but no matter. i STILL cant find my wireless chipset its impossible.
 
if you want to know what chipset, look through lspci or your dmesg log.
as far as 'hacking' your parents wifi, its not that its stealing... its because its not your hardware/signal to hack into. Its simply not ethical and thus the unwillingness to spoon feed that information to you.

i havent backed up my memory yet :S although linux runs just fine should i just go through with installing the 64 bit already ?

As skittle said go ahead and install ubuntu regularly with a dualboot if you need wndows. Ubuntu's installer is straigh forward.

Like i said before vmware runs of the host hardware. And the results arnt going to be the same as having ubuntu as the main os. Refer to ubuntu's user guides for help they really are very good.

And you should be able to use vmware's settings to enable "NAT" for networking which will simpily use your host internet connection to access the internet. But it really is better to install it natively
