I have recently purchased a Intel core 2 Q9400 and an after market cooler to replace my old Pentium E6300.

But I have never replaced a CPU before and my understanding is that my current bios is not the correct one see here: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5KC/HelpDesk_CPU/

Do I just download the update with my E6300 in and press install or something? then power off my pc, put in the new CPU and reboot?

This is all they give:
"If your motherboard BIOS version number is greater than the BIOS version listed above, then you will not need to flash your BIOS. However, if your BIOS version is smaller than the version listed above, then you will need to select and download the latest BIOS to update your system. We kindly remind you that there is a certain risk level involved in BIOS flashing, please refer to " BIOS Flashing Method ". If you still have doubts, we will strongly advise you to consult with a PC Professional or your PC dealer for further assistance."

Does this mean i just download the file and install or something? will i need a specific program to open it? Sorry I bet I sound like a right noob but I don't want to break my system or something.
