When I built my desktop, I purchased an OEM copy of Windows 7 from TigerDirect.

I would like to now replace my existing 1 TB C-Drive with a 250-500GB HD, and re-use the 1 TB drive as a storage only drive.

Will I run into problems doing this? Is there a specific procedure to do this correctly?

UPDATE:
From what I have read on this site, it appears the OEM is tied to the Mobo only, so I should be able to re-install the OEM software without any issues.

If someone could please confirm this, or offer any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Within the same system (just a different drive), a reinstall of the OS is no problem.

Have only the new drive connected.
Boot from your install media
Activate using the original license key.

Now might be a good time to think about an SSD instead of a new HDD.

Thanks for the reply USAFRet. As all of my program software, etc is currently on the C Drive HD, how would I then move/copy those files to the new smaller C Drive HD?

Thanks again

Update:

I should be able to clone a new SSD or HD from my existing C Drive HD, correct?

Again, thank you for any and all suggestions/advice.
