this might be due to a wrong driver.if you have a laptop you will need to go to your manufacture website and install the driver your manufacture provides you.nvidia drivers are sometimes incompatible with mobile gpus.
or you might have downloaded the wrong drivers for your gpu if you have a desctop.
you can download geforce experience and it might find your drivers automaticaly and it will ceep them up to date.
