Hi, i recently bought a SSD and really confused on how to install it and boot windows.
My theory is that i install it like normal, put my windows 8 disc in and restart my computer then install windows like that? When it prompts me to choose where i want to install windows on, should i delete my hard drive and choose my SSD?

Any clarification is greatly needed, really confused :/

Solution
Install the SSD without the HDD attached. Only attach the SSD and then put in CD or boot off USB. Second, make sure you set BIOS to AHCI.

You don't need to delete your HDD. You just need to make sure SSD is 1st boot priority. Later, you can erase your HDD if you need to but I'd wait until you have the SSD OS up and running.

How do i set the BIOS to AHCI and how do i erase the HDD? I feel really dumb and i built my computer 🙁

When you boot from disc go into the BIOS, hit F2 or F8...not sure it depends on your mobo. In the BIOS you can set boot priority and AHCI. Do a quick google search.
To erase the HDD simply Format it. It doesn't completely but it is pretty darn good. If you must wipe it totally clean then you need to use a special software like DBan: http://www.dban.org/download

So before i format it, i can still have all my data saved? And do i plug back the HDD after windows has been successfully installed?

Yes, you can save all your HDD data even your OS. You just have to set the SSD as the 1st priority to boot from and it'll skip the HDD OS. Also, everything on your HDD will be saved BUT you will have to re-install programs. The only thing that is playable is the files not programs.
