I know how to install win7 on SSD and get it running(clean install), but can anyone tell me whats little steps alone the way i should take? for example i heard able stuff like enable AHCI and disable fragmentation but is there any other setting/options etc i should know about?

planning to install win10 later but i just install a clean win7 on my SSD. do i actually need to install mobo/cpu driver and stuff like that? everything works now without having to install any of that. do they actually makes a different?

I5 2500k
8gig ram
2T HDD
MSI GTX970
Asus motherboard(a cheap z68 i think)
Win7

Solution
Disconnect the HDD (so it doesn't get windows put on it too)

Connect the SSD to sata port 0 or 1.

Boot into bios and enable AHCI ( which initiates Windows trim function) and put your usb or cd player (depending in the install media) as boot priority no.1.

Install Windows media and reboot to it. Follow instructions.

Install HDD. If Windows is/was on it go into Disk Management and remove the 100mb system reserve partition - so your PC doesn't try to boot to it.
