I just bought a Samsung 840 SSD. I am going to install it soon. I would just like to know the steps to these questions.

How do I make this drive the Primary, so I can install Windows 7 64 bit on it, and a few programs such as Adobe Dreamweaver, and keep my current HDD so I can use it as a file system?

I am new to this stuff patience and help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

To download through the browser, change the default download location to somewhere on the HDD.
To install something, simply choose Custom or Advanced, and select somewhere on the HDD.

You need power and data cables for both.

Yeah I bought the whole kit from Samsung.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/221222083181?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

It's the kit for Notebook and Desktop installation.

Unplug the power or sata cable to the HDD.
Plug in power and sata cable to the SSD.
Boot up the system and install windows.

After windows has been installed turn off the system.
Now plug your HDD power and sata back in.
Now go a few tabs down on the left side and find and click on "Disk Management"
From there you should be able to format your HDD.
Boot up the system. Right click on "My computer", choose the "Manage" option.

So you have to change stuff in the BIOS to make the computer read the SSD as the primary, correct? What would be the exact steps? I have a feeling I might mess up somewhere.

The exact BIOS steps depends on the motherboard. But it is labeled as Boot Order or similar.

Alright I see. Is their a way once everything is installed to make programs and files to download to the HDD? Instead of having to change the directory to the HDD every time I download something?

Alright thank you very much for your help, I will refer back to this thread hopefully this weekend, can't wait to install it!

No prob. Have fun!

Okay, so currently I installed the SSD in the computer, I rebooted the computer it said no Hard Drive Detected on startup. I put in the Windows 7 64 bit installation disc, I then went to boot order and hit enter on DVD. It's starting to install Windows on my SSD. After this what do I do? How do I put my SSD first so my computer will boot into that right away instead of my HDD when I re-connect that?

In the BIOS boot order - you can see which drive is in what order. Leave the HDD completely out of the boot order, until you verify that everything works properly off the SDD.
The PC will go down the boot order until it finds something to boot from. If the SSD is higher than anything else, it looks at that first.

Okay, everything went smoothly. I have Windows 7 installed on my SSD, and I can access my hard drive when I go to my computer, it sees it there! Computer is up and running crazy fast, I think the 8GB of Ballistix RAM helps too! Thank you very much for your help!
