I have a newly built pc that I need to install windows from a dvd to the m.2 nvme ssd (Corsair MP600 gen 4 PCIe). I’m using an ASUS B550-F motherboard which recognizes the m.2 ssd, but not as a bootable drive. The optical drive is an external type DVD currently connected via USB 2.0. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Your drive is not "bootable" until you install the OS on it.

How old is the DVD you're trying to install from?
You might want to create a new USB.

I bought it from Newegg. It’s a Windows Home 10 version OEI DVD, with product key. It’s legitimate, I’m just a novice at this. I can see the drive in BIOS Under storage Information. However it is grayed out “M.2_1”. I‘ve tried running the dvd from my usb connected dvd drive, but I’m clearly missing something as it doesn’t begin. It’s like I haven’t directed it to install on the M.2.
