Hello! Windows 7 on my hard drive is failing to boot, so I'm going to install Ubuntu on my PC then copy my important files that I need onto an external hard drive or a new hard drive. I was wondering how to reinstall Windows 7 after using Ubuntu so I can then move my important files back to Windows. I want the Windows 7 reinstall to replace Ubuntu. Thanks!

IMPORTANT NOTE: I only have the Window 7 product key as a result of buying a pre-build PC, so I don't have the disk.

Wait so if I reinstalled Windows over my existing files I wont lose all my personal files? If that's the case then I could just do that.

Hello... Yes... Download the proper ISO of your Windows Product key version... use the Windows app, ISO to USB/DVD, make sure you check mark the " make Bootable" option... and you will be able to make a install version. There are some options to fix your Boot info, or do just a file replacement of the Windows system back to the Originals, without losing your non Windows/program files/Directories/Folders... Or you can do a Disk wipe and fresh clean install.

Okay, thanks for the suggestion. I won't do a Disk wipe because the hard drive has four years of pictures, work, and a whole bunch of other stuff. I will try making a bootable USB. Thanks! But I have a quick question, which Windows 7 ISO version do I download? There's 2 English versions and I'm not sure which one to download.

Well, the product key is just printed right on top of the case of the PC. It just says "Windows Home Premium" then Product Key: (25 Key Code)
So I don't know if I have to download the x64 version or x86 version.

Thanks for the help, I actually figured out that my Windows is 64 bit and I will try your suggestion as soon as I can!

You can actually use the Ubuntu disk to move all your files to an external drive without installing it, also, it will tell you what you have as a 64bit or 32bit version. But I agree with Ironsounds, you should always know what you have in the box, lol, makes things like this a lot easier.
