You install it the same way you would install an OS on any computer. There are a couple of problems to watch out for though.

First, you will likely need to get the reference drivers direct from the manufacturer. Acer probably wont have XP drivers on their site.

Second, you may need to slipstream the chipset drivers because most, if not all, units today are using AHCI by default. This is the most common cause of installation issues in machines from the big OEM's.

Hi,
One tool is very usefull to prepare a good installation : BartPE
It helps you to prepare a dvd with :
_ a compilation of XP + Pack
_ the drivers you need for you computer
_ to keep only what you want ton install
_ To have a windows DVD ready to use (with all drivers)

This DVD is as you Windows DVD but with updates and needed drivers
So after , you just need to launch the installation in a standard way with that DVD
(otherwise it's complicated because you have to do manipulations and to use a floppy.... to install drivers during installation)

I'm not a professional about computers and I discover it for installing XP on a computer which was sold with Vista.
BartPE was very useful and easy to use for preparing my first installation and now I have a burn version of windows with all I need for this computer on one DVD

For drivers , go on the website of the manufacturer and download your drivers for the good devices and good version of operating system.
To know which devices are on your computer , use a diagnostic tool to know devices brand and models : optical drive, sound card, wifi card ....

BartPE also give you the way to structure your installation and you'll spend less energy for your installation (and you'll keep a DVD dedicated to your computer)

I wrote down a procedure but it's in french . Can you read it ?
Just tell me .
