Silly question. I have case with fans an IO ports on top. It's great for cooling, but what's a good way to keep dust out of my PC and IO ports. Right now, I cover the top of my PC with a couple of magazines when it's turned off. Any suggestions?

There are dust filters on my fans. However, I have a bunch of IO ports (Thunder Bolt, USB's etc...) on top of my case. It wouldn't be an issue if they were on the front face of my PC. I can imagine over time dust accumulating in my USB ports. Yuck! :/

Problem:
...what's a good way to keep dust out of my PC and IO ports.

Solution:
...fan filters and correct airflow setup.

More filtered airflow INTO the case than airflow out of the case.

So....more larger fans, running at higher speed, blowing into the computer case than the number of fans you have pulling air out of the computer case; and your exhaust fans should probably be running at slower speeds.

The ports on top of your case are not sealed in such a way as to prevent air from flowing OUT of the case through them. If you have positive internal case pressure (more filtered airflow into the case), then dust will not be settling into the I/O ports on top of the case.

Depending on your current airflow setup, you may not actually have the problem you think you have.
