I would also say price in general. If you are comparing new products there are usually fairly well defined price brackets.

sub-$300 would be budget.
$300-600 would be low end, but would likely not be lacking in terms of memory or storage.
$700-1000 mid-range, you'll start seeing discrete GPUs and better screens, fast storage.
$1000-2000 You'll see more application specific devices, like multimedia, good screens, premium audio packages, all metal chassis, reversible tablets, stylus.

Anything above that and you are likely looking at professional grade, high end Apple computers, or gaming centric computers.

The only thing that matters is...does it do what you need it to do?

What was "high" last year may be "mid" today.
