How to locate my HDD?

I've recently built a new pc and have a SSD and HDD, the system boots up from the SSD and installs all things to the SSD.
How do I begin to use the memory of my HDD, it doesn't even show up on file explorer under 'devices and drives'; the only things there are the SSD and DVD. and I don't know if that is normal.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

If the 1TB drive is new you might need to format it.

In Windows 8 you can right-click the start icon and directly select 'Disk Management' from the list that appears. It will look like this:

You should see the 1TB there as 'unallocated'. Just right click the unallocated drive and choose to format it, after that it should show up under 'My Computer' and be ready to use.

I thought that you had to "Initialize" the drive before Formatting??

Quite right Yogi, I clear forgot. Thanks for catching that.

@ mattt22: If in Disk Management you see 'Not Initialized' on the disk like the image below, right click it and choose 'Initialize Disk', then you will be able to format it.
