how to look at documents from

Hey i am getting emails from gigabyte about my rma and they want me to fill out these forms but I cant for the life of me figure out how to read them and fill them out. When I open with Notepad or Word it shows a bunch of code. What do I use as a Windows 8.1 user to open documents sent by email from someone so I can fill them out and send them back? Thanks.

likely a pdf that allows form filling.. Get adobe reader.

They are probably PDF files.
Adobe reader might help.

AFAIK, unless you get the paid pro version, you can't edit, you'll need to print, fill out, scan, and send.
Try with the free anyway to make sure.

it said it cant open the file because its not the right file or the email attachment hasnt been decoded right...

A couple options to try.
Go to microsoft update, not windows update, and update your office files. If you have an old version of office installed, it will need converters to read newer office files.

The only thing I use a PC for is gaming, the Mac seems to be able to open almost any file type without installing anything.
Since the file is a .doc, I'm not sure if you NEED MS Word to open it. I'd assume there'd be native support in W8 etc.
You can use free software like OpenOffice. If that doesn't work you might need to email them back and ask for the file in another format.
