is there way to reduce MONITOR'S resolution? not SYSTEM, MONITOR, to lower from 1920x1080 to 1600x900, so I can play games at 900p rather than 1080?

Solution
Pixels are actual little lights so you can't change a monitor's native res. If you want it to only show 900p without it scaling then you can but that's obviously going to have a black box around it.
that is how you change the monitor's resolution. Windows acts as a catalyst for the display's settings. the "system" resolution and the monitor's resolution are the same thing.
if you have activated VSR or DSR and are running a 900p display at 1080p then you will have to change it back to default through Nvidia Control Panel or AMD Catalyst/Crimson.

you can edit the display's choice of resolutions or create your own using a utility called CRU. will have to search and download. though unless you are planning on using custom refresh rates it will achieve nothing more than lowering it through Windows system settings.

are you having a problem with Windows booting into 1080p after you have lowered the resolution to 900p? editing through CRU could also stop this from happening if that is the problem. just delete available 1080p resolutions and add 900p.

you shouldn't need to bother with this though. ingame settings set to 900p fullscreen should be all you need.
