Hi! To make a normal desktop such as this (http://www.amazon.com/Dell-i3646-1000BLK-Inspiron-Desktop/dp/B00KE80VV6/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1429902438&sr=1-1&keywords=windows+desktop) or really any normal desktop a gaming computer, would I need to simply change the motherboard and graphics card? This thread is really just for fun!

Solution
Something like that will never make a gaming computer. The CPU is too weak-this Celeron is a renamed Atom. The small for factor case will make it difficult or impossible to upgrade/replace things.
A normal tower/mini tower machine can be upgraded for games by upgrading the Power supply, Graphics card, and processor (if necessary). It is fairly easy, but often ends up being better to just buy/build a gaming computer to begin with so you won't be stuck with either too weak or too expensive parts that you cannot use.

You mean, after you change the Celeron J1800 Atom and motherboard, add another 4GB of RAMs, swap-out the HDD for an SSD, and replace the power supply? :)

Your premise is generally sound but gaming rigs come in all flavors, and should be 'balanced.' Taking a new platform never really meant for gaming and 'up-fitting' has its problems --- the biggest being ... don't try to re-purpose a new computer for something it was not originally meant to be.

Just buy/build the computer you want -- specific to your needs and intent.

yeah, I ordered parts for my pc. I found this type of computer at a garage sale and just thought "What could I do with this piece of trash!" :)
