I don't even know what devices you're trying to connect, an F-to-F cable is usually an extension though.

live goes to live and ground goes to ground, that's pretty much everything, if you're using RCA jacks center pin is for the live wire and exterior for the ground

As posted before - what devices are you trying to connect?

It also matters what plugs (male) and ports (female) you are using.

And there are different types of audio connections also depending on what you are trying to connect.
