How to make room for more icons on the taskbar without messing with the native resolution?

I've already ticked the 'small icons' box on the taskbar options and I'm using my monitor's native resolution(1600x900) but I need more room on the taskbar for more icons. What can I do other than increasing the desktop resolution(which makes the icons and letters blurry)?

Solution
The thing that comes to mind would be to go with a two-row taskbar (this will take up twice the vertical height). You'd right-click the bar, click to unlock the taskbar, drag the top edge of it up until it's expanded then re-lock it.

Thank you, It had never even occurred to me. It's not perfect but it's great nevertheless.
