Hi,
I have a gaming pc, with a 27 inch acer model which is 1920x1080. I have used my nvidia control panel to set the resolution to 2560x1440p since the icons on a 1080p screen on a 27 inch were absolutely massive. but now I have a problem, the text and icons aren't that sharp anymore, I have played around with cleartype text and turned the contrast up and brightness down, which has worked to an extent but just a little bit clearer and I'll be a happy man

if there are any tweaks, programs or solutions you can suggest

thanks! 🙂

Sharpness is not good for a gamer.Focus on softness.
Any ways if you want sharper image tweaks can be done only by adjusting brightness and contrast.
Otherwise buy any BEN Q LED and select gaming mode

How have you set the resolution to 2560x1440 on a monitor with a native resolution of 1920x1080? The resolution is determined by the amount of pixels across the length and height of the panel. It's a hardware limitation which can't be overcome with software.

Display sharpness is measured in PPI, which correlates to resolution and panel size.

well bicycle_repair_man I have set a custom resolution in nvidia control panel, yes I know it isnt actually at 2560x1440, but what it does it render any graphics at 2560x1440 then downscale them to 1080p so I get a better scale on images and games, and so effectively everything on the desktop is smaller. its called downsampling

I know sharper isnt good for gaming but I want it for my desktop and thanks for the solution

yeah, I'm not a newbie to computers, of course I have tried the built in scaling options but the icons and text size is still too big even at 100% and it wont go below that, thats why I have set a custom resolution ,which after messing with brightness and contrast looks better than the 1080p desktop
