i have a cd-rom disc laying around. and i wanted to use it to burn DBAN onto it so i can wipe my hard drive. but i was stupid enough to put something onto the disc before, and now i can't get that space back. it says that there is about 29 MB used, and that there is 625 MB free out of the 653MB.

i was wondering if there is some kind of program that makes the CD disk usable for burning again. because when using ImgBurn, it also says "disk not empty" which means it won't let me burn on the disk.

Solution
If a write-once disc (CD/DVD/BD-R) was written as single-session or the remaining space on a multi-session disc isn't sufficient to write the extra data, you are out of luck and need to start over with a new disc.

Unless it the actual disk is a DVD-RW or CD-RW, you can't.

RW = Read/Write.

If no RW, it is "write once"
You've already written, so no more writes on that particular CD.
