Question How to make Windows 10 Tablet Mode run faster/smoother?

I have the pavillion x360 that is touchscreen. My wife is trying to use the tablet function to create art on Adobe illustrator and other drawing programs, but she says that the interface is too laggy to the touch. I expanded the 8gb of ram to 16gb. Do I need more ram or is it a software issue? Also an alternative would be to get a drawing tablet, but does anyone know if that takes a load off the cpu and would run better than the tablet mode or more of the same? Thank you for your time.

Is it "laggy" when in desktop mode as well? If it isn't, it is a software issue.

I would run a malware scan and see if anything is eating up your CPU or GPU at idle.

The CPU is a i5-8265U, not a huge clock speed but I assumed it would do decently.

Desktop works fine, I'll run the scan but its a relatively new laptop without any downloads other than adobe programs.
