How to manage 2 storage devices?

I just built my first pc today, and I have never used an ssd/hdd before. I love this configuration, but what is the best way to manage which files go where on the pc? What are the best utilities to determine which files go to which drive and how do I move files easily? Thank you in advance.

Install programs where you want, don't use defaults
Download files where you want, don't use defaults
Save files where you want, don't use defaults

You can't just move files willy nilly as it may cause things to not work as you intended. Use of an SSD + HD requires an astute Windows user. Many folks have been using Windows this way since the early 90s by partitioning their drives. If you don't fell up to the task, you might best be served by an SSHD where the management of what goes where takes place behind the scenes.

I understand. I already have an ssd/hdd though. Thank you for your input. Guess I need to do everything manually

Every program will ask you where it should install itself before the installation actually begins. I assume C: will be your SSD, and D: would be your hard drive. So when the program being installed asks you were to install, decide which drive it should be installed on, and what folders. And then it will do what you told it to do.

Remember to always leave about 20% of the SSD empty. Never ever fill the SSD completely up. It requires free space to function properly.
