Well seeing as when i turn on the XMP profile, my cpu temperatures rise by 10-15C, i'd like to manually overclock it without it using the XMP, i'd settle even on 2666, but how exactly do i do this? I tried to just change the frequency to 2666 but the pc just wouldn't boot after that, what else do i need to change?

Solution
The bios should have a setting to load the RAM without XMP settings. Regarding overclocking your RAM:

The first thing you want to do is to find the stock timings, usually a program like AIDA64 can do this for you, and manually set the timings in your BIOS. Once you've done that, you have to remember that RAM overclocking is more complicated than CPU overclocking. Your 2 big numbers that make a difference are CAS latency and frequency. They move opposite of each other - one goes up the other goes down - in terms of stability. With regards to making changes, lowering the numbers of the timings is referred to as tightening, raising is referred to as loosening. As you raise your frequency, you'll need to loosen your timings, and adjust your voltage. Mark down your BSOD codes. They list out as 0x00000### the important numbers being the ones that aren't 0s, which appears at the end. There are overclocker's BSOD lists out there which will let you know what to do from there.

Thanks for the response, but i just followed what this guy did in the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F54HYT6LXnc
I basically did almost exactly everything he did and it seems like everything is running fine. Set the timing as 14 15 14 40 and voltage to 1.26V. So there shouldn't be anything to worry about right?
