Hello everyone, few days ago i bought a Samsung SSD 850 EVO (250gb) and i wanted boot my system from there.
I've been searching, and i had the idea of formatting my HDD (I already have my important files in a USB), then clone my HDD to the SSD, and change to booting from BIOS. The thing is that i'm not sure how do i do all that, and if it's going to work, or if there's a better idea.
Additional information:
- Hard Drive (HDD): TOSHIBA DT01ACA100 (1TB)
- I want to format the HDD
- I want to have some important applications on my SSD

Thanks for your time, if you can answer with all the details it would be a pleasure.
Sorry for my English.
Facundo.

Here is a link to the software as well as the user guide.

Read the guide to see if the app meets your needs and how it works.

If you're going to "format" the HDD, that then requires a clean install. And then there is no reason to clone that clean install to the SSD.

Just skip the clone process, and do a clean install on the SSD to start with.

How much space is currently consumed on the HDD?
What, exactly, constitutes this space?

As said, if you're going for a fresh start, there is no need to clone anything.
Simply do a clean install on the new drive.

Not quite.
The Samsung application lets you leave off things like music/video/docs.
Other than that, the OS and all applications go to the new drive.

If you want to do a clean install, do not keep your HDD connected while you reinstall windows.
Later, you can reattach the Hdd and access it as you will.
Any apps that used the registry(most will) will need to be reinstalled.
There is some sort of a procedure for steam games.
