How to mix coolant with distilled water?

Hello guys! I'm building a custom loop for the first time and wondering how to mix coolant with distilled water properly. The coolant I'm using is the HydrX PM Coolant - concentrated corrosion and algea inhibitor:http://www.swiftech.com/hydrxcoolant.aspx Do I need to add anything beside distilled water? Silver coil, biocide?!? Radiator Material: Brass tubes, louvered copper fins.

Typically distilled water + a kill coil is all you need. Coolants tend to gunk up your lines and might actually lower the thermal conductivity of the water.

I agree with ThatVietGuy on this. Others run their setup using Pre-Mix coolants and dyes just fine though. I have heard bad things about Hydrx, just look on some Google searches. It seems to clog up waterblocks for some people. However, to answer your question... If your using the HydrX PM, that's all you put into the loop as it's already premixed. You would simply buy a few bottles and pour in as much as needed. If your getting the standard HydrX and mixing yourself. It's specified right on the link you provided(1 Bottle per 16/oz of water for 3 yr protection, or 1 Bottle per 32/oz water for 1 yr protection). Also, a Silver Coil IS the biocide if that's what your asking. If your going to stick with HydrX, it shouldn't need any extra "ingredients" as they're in the HydrX solution itself.

What coolant would you guys recommend? I don't care if its pre-mix or not, nor the pricing, I just want to do it right the first time. To be a little more specific: I'm using the Swiftech H240-X AIO liquid kit (it has 280mm radiator) to cool my CPU and a GTX 970. The coolant must be green though to go with the NZXT H440 Razer

I'll have to do some digging if your set on going "green", lol. Do you want/prefer a premix, or using a green dye w/ distilled water? Mayhem's dye seems to be popular. I'll try to get back here tomorrow...need sleep.

Honestly I prefer a premix cus its simple, but if concentrated coolant mixing with distilled water is a better choice then by all means I will go with the harder option. I did some research and peeps said dye is a bad idea.

Doing some investigating. Do you prefer the newer Pastel color type premix or standard "see through" color options? Mayhem's brand seems to be pretty popular. EK's Premix as well. They have both corrosion inhibitors and biocide additives in the premix itself. Also found a review on Mayhem's, they seemed to have corrected the past issue of clogging blocks according to the review. Also, at least w/ the EK, be careful using as it stains everything if you spill any. It appears it will also stain any clear tubing/reservoirs from normal use so be aware of that as well.
