CPU temp varies by CPU too. The 6xxx series and older Intel CPUs aren't supposed to go over 70. I prefer to keep mine around 28-32 idle and 50-55 under load despite having a 100° threshold. That's w/ an OC on a 7700k to 5.2ghz using a 240mm liquid cooler. My case temp generally runs 68-78°f. Heat and electronics don't mix.
That is not true. I had Xeon E3-1230 v2, which is I7 3770 equivalent without graphics core and it was running above 70 degrees without issues and boosting as it should. Also you can check youtube, there are lots of videos with second gen intel cpus and newer which are running fine even at 90 degrees celsius.CPU temp varies by CPU too. I would be more concerned about clock speed than temp -- if it's throttling down too much then that tells you something's wrong.
