Question How to open a bat.PFILE file?

Hi!

I am trying to open a protected Batch file that was sent to me, with a .PFILE extension. As far as I know, the file probably contains text, so I do not need to actually run the .bat file. I have tried opening it with Azure Information Protection as with a normal .PFILE, but it says it doesn't open this kind of file. I am running Windows 7.

Any ideas as to how I might open this?

Why would you want to open something that could infect you?

If it doesn't open with Azure IP, then you're probably out of luck.
Ask the sender what it is, and maybe have them undo the DRM and resend.

Fair question, this file was sent to me by someone I personally know, as part of some kind of puzzle. So there really is no danger, but thank you for the concern!

Use a programmer editor like sublime text 3

So the puzzle is for you to crack the DRM?

And are you sure that your friend sent it, and not malware masquerading as him?

Yes exactly! He gave it to me on a USB key where he put the file himself, and the encryption bears his own name, so there's no worry about that.

As I replied above, he gave it to me physically, so no worries. Hadn't thought using a programmer editor though, thanks for the lead!
