I just had to do something similar with an Asus X555u laptop. There are videos on Youtueb like this one -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x56SO1sJJn4&vl=en that show you how to open the case. It doesn't look easy, but it is possible and that video does show removing the battery.
