So I bought the netgear powerline 1200 and for the first week it was giving me pretty good speeds, then all of a sudden the speed went down to even slower than wifi. What can I do to improve the powerline speed? I have already restarted my moddem a couple times and unplug and plug again the powerline adapters but nothing works.

Insure that neither of the adapters is on the same outlet as a large electric motor, floor fan, etc. To mitigate the interference from such a motor, place it on a 4-6 foot extension cord.

Also, insure that neither of the PL adapters is on a power bar or surge suppressor.

Have you made any customized settings on your Modem? There is a setting when setting up your network that will allow you to broadcast your Wi-Fi signal for certain devices like 802.11n, 802.11a, etc. Also sometimes, you may need to compare what your Modem/Router can output for speeds and what your Powerline adapters can output as well. Finally, check if the Ethernet is not so worn out. sometimes also, the cables may have been through alot of wear and tear and may need replacing. Thanks
