Hello. I read about RAID, but I don't have experience in this.

I plan to store ~30Tb data (thousands 500mb files). This is arhive. I don't need fast write\read speed. I need SAFETY. I mean, I don't want to lose data, because creation of these data again - long and painful process.

I think about several 10Tb HDDs + something like Synology DiskStation Ds918+.
I see in wiki RAID 6 - seems to be safety.
I would like to spend no more $3000 ($2000-$2500 will be perfect).

Can you give me hardware specs, please :??: (what hdd i need, what nas i need, what raid need to use).

Thanks in advance.

Solution
The safest thing for data is multiple copies. RAID is not a substitute for backups. 30TB of data, with eight 10 (or 12)TB disks, you could create two RAID 5 volumes and have two copies of all your data.
