It's my first build and I have no idea how to oc it. I messed around in the bios but I'm not sure how to overclock the damn thing. I'm using an asus maximus vii hero with the rog uefi bios. Are there any specific instructions or videos online with regards to overclocking the 4790k on this bios? I wanted to oc to a good 4.5 - 4.6 ghz

That's not how we answer questions here. In fact, it's a good way to get bounced off the forum. If you don't have something valuable to contribute to a thread, just don't answer it.

Here is a good guide for overclocking just about any platform and to any degree:

And one specific to the Hero VII:

If you're going to overclock, make sure you have a really good PSU. No budget or low quality units. Also, do not overclock unless you have a good aftermarket CPU cooler.

as a sort of a guideline, i have my 4790K at 4.7 right now with a vcore of 1.25 and i get around 75 C at full load. thats a little hot, and i could probably tune it down a bit, but just so you kind of know what to expect.

also, my cooler is a nice one and that makes a big difference.
