How to overclock a Dual-CPU Intel Xeon E5430?

Solution

Happy OP? This still isn't PRECISELY why, you must get the drift though?

Upgrade the mobo and cpu to something by Intel with a "K" behind the name to have fun with overclocking.

Completely fair point.

I just can't be bothered to go into the massive amount of detail required to explain it for that processor.

My recommendation is find a guide or wait for a hero to swoop down from the sky.

But is it not possible, or can you slightly OC it?

In simple terms, Xeon processors are not designed to be overclocked. They are designed to be used as servers in 24/7 operation, where energy efficiency (ie, cost to run) is very important. Since overclocking generally increases power consumption much more than performance and reduces lifespan, overclocking is not supported in Xeon CPU's.
