Hi guys,

based on your ideas I just put an uber pc! :)

But I have no idea how to go about overclocking my gpu, a gtx780 classified.

Is it a simple software teak?......any good guides about?

I searched but all I see are ppl comparing benchmarks, no guides how to do it.

Thanks for any info!

cheers,
Ab.

I made a little ' beginner's guide' myself, take a look and see if it helps

Here it is:

It's a lie. Of course GPUs overclock differently, but you can get a lot more performance for your money.

My GPU is overclocked and it has been for almost a year with no issues:

Core clock: 980 MHz (reference), 1150 MHz (overclocked)
Memory clock: 6008 MHz (reference), 7008 MHz (overclocked)

The overclock made it possible for me to play at ultra settings in BF4 at a smooth framerate. So I really believe it's worth it.

Thanks, I think I will over-clock....by just say %10. Just to get that extra boost.

Its an EVGA GTX780 Classified with aftermarket cooling, so with those 2 big fans on it and another big case fan right next to it,....surely it would be wasteful to not overclock if heat is the only issue?

I also have a 780 classified and I was wandering this also. Yesterday I was running at 1250MHz stable with 1.16mv and temps around 60C. At this rate, I think I could easily break 1400MHz

Now with the serious business.
With a 780 Classy, this is a healthy, but pretty safe overclock to start out with.

1. Shut down your pc

2. Flip the switch on that classy to LN2 bios.

3. Power up the pc (the red led on the classified should be lit up now and the green off)

4. Open up precision X once windows boots up.

5. Max out your new power target to 115% and temp at 95% (You will never get near 80 with this overclock).

6. Add gpu offset 120Mhz.

7. Add Mem offset 100Mhz.

8. Hit apply.

9. Open up EVGA OC Scanner and select the benchmark "Tessellation + DoF" and make sure you check the box Artifact scanner. (I've tested them all, this one validates a stable or non-stable OC the fastest.)

10. Hit settings in Oc Scanner, the 2nd field is for "Stop benchmark if max artifacts > (Per pixel)"", Enter 75 for this option.
-This option will stop your drivers from crashing if you aren't stable at these speeds. It will safely abort the benchmark before you can even read the counter!

11. Hit run and Enjoy your beast of a GPU, I love my 780 Classy!

If you see any artifacts or it aborts due to artifacts, you have two options.

A - Increase your voltage by +13mV(This isn't too bad of any option because this will also access higher boost bins, what I mean by this in laymen terms, is that when u add 13mV your going to gain at least 13Mhz in speed on your GPU!)

B- Back off the GPU Offset by 10Mhz.

Screen shot of these settings
My Classy at these settings running the Benchmark

Same benchmark + 13 mV!

Awesome post, I will try this when I get home.

So as you said, its a nice and safe overclock thats not really going to push the health of the card?

Not at all, I monitor my VRM temps through precisionX, and they never go much above 50c, also I finally popped the ACX cooler off my classified because I wanted to know if I had the crappy elpina memory(be lucky to hit +200mhz) or the great OC friendly samsung or hynix, Mine actually has samsung and after knowing this, I pushed my memory to +600 and downclocked my gpu to 100 with +13mv, temps stay low and I get a nice performance boost. I could go alot higher with a lil more voltage up to +1.35 and even higher still with a custom bios, but It was overkill for most games out of the box and now its mega overkill titan slayer. EVGA meant for this card to be an overclocking beast, thats what classifieds are about, you got premium parts/custom PCB/hell of alot more VRM's unlike the other 780's (excluding the msi lightning), so as long as u don't crazy with the temps, let that Classified FLY!, it can take it.

BTW you may want to google nvidia inspector and download it, this free program will let you know what kind of memory is on your classified without pulling off the cooler! If its not elpinda, your ram will most likely OC very well.
