Question How to overclock an Intel i5-10600K to 5 GHz

Hello.

I have Strix Z490-I motherboard and i5-10600K processor. I want to overclock this CPU to 5 GHz, not more.

What should be the BIOS settings?

Though, do note that due to silicone lottery, even if you follow the guide to the letter, there is 0 guarantee that you get 5 GHz out of your CPU.

The top 23% of tested 10600K fell within the 5.0GHz bin or greater. Other sources. 5.0GHz appears to be a good target.

Why do you want to overclock?
It is a reasonable thing to do if you need to run multithreaded apps that can make use of all threads.
OTOH, for gaming, it is better to use the turbo capability which will boost the performance of one or two cores past what an oc can do.
Games respond best to single thread performance.

I got a massive increase in game performance with a all core overclock. Games seem to like 6 or more cores. Also there is a big increase in time spy cpu.

A 10600k boosts to 4.80 GHz. The settings I posted would increase both Multi Thread and single thread performance. 5.1GHz up to 2 cores and 5.0GHz for 6 cores. AVX -1.

Basically an overclocked 10600k @ 5.1GHz all cores is close to a 10900k stock in games.
