764.5mhz is a reading you got from cpu-z i assume? You can double that number to give you your actual speed so 764x2=1528mhz which isn't unusual when overclocking. The ram speed is equated with this formula...

memory speed= bclk x memory multiplier

or as an example.... 1368 = 171 x 8

If you have the ram settings at auto using xmp profile it will adjust according to your bclk, that's how you get your speed of 764.5 x2 = 1528mhz.

Anyone correct me if Im wrong on this.

Didnt see this before I replied.
Your ram speed is actually 539.8 x 2 = 1079.6mhz

A couple things, you can try using the x21 multiplier instead of 22. This might make your overclock more stable as you go higher. So in BIOS lower your multiplier by 1 which will probably look like 20x in BIOS (intel turbo boost enabled adds +1x multiplier in windows). So recalculate your bclk to get you the desired cpu frequency. If you want 3.9ghz cpu then 3900/21=185.7bclk or 186bclk.

You can keep using xmp or start to set your ram manually to give you the timings you want. Or just leave the ram to auto and manually set your memory multiplier to 8 istead of 6 which will give you 1488mhz (which will look like 744mhz in cpu-z).

Showing your voltage settings would help if you want to know whether or not things are safe, or showing anything you have modified in BIOS for that matter.

Looks good. Pretty amazing what these i7's can do isn't it?!!

It's a big leap for me from my old athlon 3800x2 and 400mhz ddr system. Its so good to have fresh hardware to play with [:mousemonkey:3]
